Soil Preparation
Providing new sod with the best growing environment allows the sod to become a healthy lawn. Tilling the soil allows sod roots to become strong, healthy and eventually your established lawn.
Tilling mixes nutrients so they are readily available for the sod. Tilling also makes for easy root growth in the soil which is necessary for a healthy lawn.
If the appropriate steps (tilling) are not taken the sod does not create a good root structure and cannot withstand weather stress (drought, cold temperature or pest/diseases). Sod laid down without tilling usually does not even grow into your soil (roots stay in the soil on the piece of sod).
Our Process (what to expect)
Day 1 Tilling & Leveling
Tilling It usually takes one day to till a large size residential yard. We use a compact utility unit with the cultivator attachment (See video of Cultivator ) for the large areas of the lawn and a little hand tiller for the little areas.
Leveling soil After all soil is tilled 4-6 inches we level the soil to the existing contour of the yard. Because the soil is about 1/2 in. When you get the sod, We rake the soil down along the driveway, roads and walks to ensure proper height of lawn once sod is installed.
Day 2 Installation of sod
Installing the sod We sub contract the sod installation to a company that specializing in sod installation. This lowers our expenses and moves the saving on to you.
Call for sod pricing and availability.
We can sod a large yard for less per pallet then sodding a small yard. But don't get me wrong if you have a small yard thats good for your pocket book. Call for a free estimate today.
"We do lots of sod" and that puts us on the top of this competitive market. We will beat any other companies estimate most any time. If your getting a estimate from three people and one of them is half the price then the other two something sounds a little fishy and your investment (the lawn) is likely to be the one that gets the bad end of the stick there.
